Tej Kohli, this is what I am known to the world as. I believe our names signify our identity and the foundation of our very existence. Though William Shakespeare would have begged to differ..As goes his popular adage "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet." Well..I don't quite agree. So, I wanted my first post to be about my name.

Living in Dallas, I am required to help people in understanding the meaning of my name- An Indian Name that I am so proud of.

Tej, an Indian name means "radiant" in Sanskrit. "Tej" is considered the shorter form of the name "Tejas", which carries the same meaning in Sanskrit. However, "Tej" is often directed toward males of North Indian heritage whereas "Tejas" appears more often among South Indian boys. Tej is a popular name back home in India which means "gloriousness, magnificence." Tej is also used as a short form of Tejomay.

Though I am not too sure but I do hope that my name has got nothing to do with the bay leaf or the "Tej Patta" used in Indian cooking!!
