ASTON MARTINThe two Aston Martins on display at the London Motor Show during the crisis year of 1925 were more than just window dressing for the company, as they showed no discernible trace of timidity or anxiety about the future. The first of these auto, available for the ample price of 825 pounds, was a boat-shaped sports model, pale yellow with brown wings.Access to the Spartan but elegant cockpit was via a single door, while a hatch over the rear concealed one to twofurther seats. The power unit, a fourcylinder one and a half liter affair with eight valves and twin overhead cams, impresses even by modern standards. And then there was a four-seater tourer of equally pleasing lines, aviable in two attractive shades of red for 725 pounds. Its side-valve engine was a familiar design, having been developed in 1921 by the engineer H.V.Robb, previously of Coventry-Simplex, from the very earliest Aston Martin power unit.
